Boat trips, islands, and experiences at sea reveal an even more beautiful and surprising side of Florianópolis. And everything is even better when you have convenient accommodation to come and go and enjoy yourself with peace of mind.

Plan by wind and sea
Choose the right day before paying.

For boat trips, the day dictates the itinerary: prioritize good weather and calm seas, with departures in the morning (9:30 and 10:00 am). Strong south winds and rough seas often cancel trips; cancellations are more likely when the wind exceeds 20 to 30 kilometers per hour or the sea is rough. Check wind, waves, and tide the day before and have an alternative plan. Bring sunscreen, a hat, water, a towel, and swimwear; cash helps with extras (around R$16 for the entrance fee and R$80 for lunch, when included).

Campeche Island
Crystal clear water with controlled access

Campeche Island is perfect for a day of crystal-clear water and snorkeling, offering a "full-day" experience. Access is controlled, with a daily limit of 800 people, so plan ahead: a virtual ticket is mandatory (around R$15), and buying one close to the date may mean missing out. On some trips, coolers are allowed for bringing snacks. Before boarding, check sea conditions and follow the instructions of the monitors and crew.

Anhatomirim and Ratones
Two fortresses and a guided tour

To combine sea and history, choose a schooner with a stop in Anhatomirim, where the Santa Cruz Fortress (18th century) is located. There are itineraries of about five hours and shorter options, some with dolphin watching in the bay. If you enjoy an extra cultural touch, there are combinations with Ratones, adding two fortresses in the same day. The entrance fee may be charged separately (around R$16), so bring cash.

Plan light when the island is crowded.

If you want to see the turquoise sea of Campeche without depending on a landing spot, the scenic tour is a practical alternative: the boat circles the island and can include a stop for snorkeling around it, maintaining the "different day" atmosphere even when access is crowded. It works best with calm seas, so check the forecast before confirming. Go with sunscreen, water, and a snorkel mask (or arrange rental). In the sea, respect the crew's instructions and avoid swimming alone.

Grove for diving
Snorkeling and baptism when the sea cooperates.

When the sea is cooperating, Arvoredo offers snorkeling and diving with rich marine life, with the chance to see turtles, rays, and schools of fish. From October to April, visibility ranges from 10 to 25 meters, which completely changes the experience. You can go on a guided snorkeling tour or do a baptism dive with an instructor. Landing on the island is not permitted. Wear a life jacket when indicated, do not touch reefs or animals, and follow the operator's instructions.

Average price: around R$300 per person (guided snorkeling) and R$450 per person (introductory dive).

A more tranquil bathing stop
French Island

Looking for a more tranquil swimming stop within some schooner packages? Ilha do Francês (Frenchman's Island) is known for its shallow waters and is less well-known, perfect for slowing down between sailing and historical visits. The tip is to treat it as a "stop to enjoy the sea": bring a snorkel mask if you want to observe the bottom without complications and bring extra sunscreen, because time flies by in the water. In rough seas, don't push yourself: follow the crew and avoid swimming alone.

Alternative near Arvoredo
Mata Fome Island

If you're looking for an alternative with the same "vibe" as Arvoredo, Ilha Mata Fome is a nearby option with similar marine life. It can be a trump card when choosing a spot depends on sea conditions that day. Go with flexible expectations: what makes the experience happen is clearer water and safe navigation, so confirm the forecast and follow the operator's decision on the best location. Bring a snorkel mask, water, and sunscreen, and avoid touching reefs or wildlife.
