The lagoon blends landscape, activity, sunsets, and experiences that add another charm to the trip. Choosing a cozy and well-located apartment makes all the difference in enjoying this itinerary with more comfort.

Lagoa Center

Lagoa da Conceição has its own unique atmosphere, and the town center is the best place to get into the rhythm. Walk around the stone bridge, stop at the pier to watch the movement on the water, and enjoy the relaxed vibe in the late afternoon, between 5 pm and 7 pm, when the light is most beautiful. Bring water, wear a hat, and be careful of cyclists on the shore.

Classic Sunset

To watch the sunset at Lagoa da Conceição, choose a spot and arrive before the peak. The Mirante do Morro da Lagoa viewpoint offers panoramic views; on Avenida das Rendeiras, the experience is right by the water, with reflections in the lagoon and a relaxed atmosphere. In February, the average sunset time is around 7 pm, so plan your visit between 6 pm and 7 pm. Bring a camera and, if you stay until dark, have a flashlight to return safely.

Waterway Transportation

To reach Costa da Lagoa in a different way, use the water transport (the "water bus"). Generally, you can buy tickets on the spot at the terminal booth; in high season, it's worth arriving early because it can get crowded. The quoted cost is around R$28 per person (round trip), and there are cheaper short trips, around R$6 each way. A good idea is to use it as a "get off and get on" system: get off at one stop, walk to another, and catch the next boat. Confirm payment methods and schedules on the day.

Active Lagoon Coast

On the eastern shore, Costa da Lagoa is ideal for kayaking and short walks. Kayaking allows you to explore quieter spots, and double kayaks are a great option for families; if the sun is mild, the afternoon (2 pm to 5 pm) is usually comfortable. At low tide, consider walking "on the water," with shallow sections and submerged parts that give the sensation of walking inside the lagoon. Wear sneakers, check the tide, and avoid areas with strong currents near the ocean outlet.

6.4.5 Dunes and Sandboarding.jpg
Dunes and Sandboarding

The Joaquina Dunes connect the lagoon to Joaquina Beach and are perfect for sandboarding and sand sledding year-round. In the morning (8 am to 12 pm), with drier sand and low wind, the descent is more efficient. For beginners, sand sledding is usually easier; if you want to improve, take lessons and practice first on gentle slopes. Bring water and sunscreen and avoid going down high dunes alone to reduce the risk of falls. A tip to save money is to rent by the hour and, when allowed, share the board.

Average price: around R$30 per hour (rental); around R$45 per hour (lesson R$35–50).

Windsurfing on the Lagoon

If the idea is sailing, windsurfing usually works best with moderate winds, around 10 to 20 knots. At the southern tip, consistent wind helps to build momentum; for those who are already experienced, it's possible to reschedule group sessions, and for those who prefer to go alone, the lagoon also appears as an option for solo sailing. If you are a beginner, avoid days with winds above 25 knots, when the water can become choppy. Use a life jacket, check the wind and tide beforehand, and follow the operator's instructions.

6.4.7 Kitesurfing at Lagoon 1.jpg
Kitesurfing at the Lagoon

Kitesurfing at Lagoa da Conceição is best suited for experienced kitesurfers, especially when the wind is consistent. The shallow areas are ideal for maneuvers, and there are more "choppy" sections for those seeking a challenge; on the other hand, beginners should avoid days with winds above 25 knots, when control becomes more demanding. Suggested routes include the southern tip and a more isolated spot at the western tip, with less activity. Wear a life jacket, check the forecast, and respect the space in the water to reduce risks.

Stand Up Paddle

If you want an easy water experience, Stand Up Paddle works very well in the central part of the lagoon. Prefer early morning or late afternoon, with lighter winds; on clear days, visibility can reach 2 to 3 meters, but after rain it tends to decrease due to sediment. High tide can help with navigation and the feeling of more "open" water. Use a life jacket, attach a leash, and avoid areas with currents near the exit to the sea.
